Interested in what happens next...

So I am to page 300 and I have to say I have been enjoying reading this book as well.  At the part where the grown dogs and puppies attack the monster, I was terrified that one of the puppies was going to get trampled or eaten or something!  But thank goodness that didn't happen.  I relate to this because I am also a complete dog lover!  I have a golden retriever named Cooper and a shar pei/ lab mix named Duke.  Dogs are such wonderful pets to own because they have so much character and personality.  For something to happen to one of them would be horrible.  That is why I can relate to Lissar when it comes to something happening to our loving pets. I felt horrible for Lissar when her father threatened to kill Ash in 3 days!  Sad, her dog is her best friend and closest companion, that would be awful.  I think Ossin being such a dog lover and Lissar as well, would make an awesome duo, friends or maybe lovers?? I am excited to see what happens next!  I wonder what is gonna happen with the boy her and the dogs found and napped with?  Who is he and how is he connected to the story?  I guess I will just have to find out...

  2. I was terrified for the dogs too! I was thinking "Oh no, after everything that she went through, please make sure the puppies our safe", considering what had happened to her with Ash.
What do you think that the dog symbolizes? I was going to talk about this in my own blog but I had a few ideas. Like, do they symbolize that she can love someone? Considering how she was brought up, the love was lacking in the house. So, I think with Ash and her puppies soon later show that she has true compassion. That she is unlike her parents and can truly love someone/something.
In addition, I think we talked about this a little bit in class.. do you think the dogs have a sort of realism to the story? Obviously it's a fairy tale but the dogs seem to put a realistic input on what is going on in the book. The dogs are what make her real.. and saves her.
To go along with what you said as well, I do think that Ossin and her will make a good couple =] They do share that similar trait.
By the way, if you're confused by the comment above I deleted it to add more, haha.
Anyway, to add on to the dogs, you even had yourself comparing yourself to the book. This is a fairy tale, how else do you think we would be able to identify with the book? The dogs have gave us something to grab onto and relate to. I love how this book does that.
What else do you think the dog and puppies have us connected to?
